When shopping for meat like anything else, you have to pay attention to details to get the best deal. The cut of meat is makes big difference between a feel good cut of meat and some piece of meat. The cost of that meant can mean how many of that cut you can afford.
Considering current economic times the cheaper cuts of meat are not always the least expensive cuts of meat. In fact just to move those more expensive cuts of meat the price is reduced.
Pork steaks generally have more bone and fat than pork chops. The past weekend I found pork steaks at 1.73 per pound, and pork chops 1.28 per pound.
I have found less of a price difference between just a chunk of meat and that same chunk of meat cut into barbecue size steaks. A pork roast was going for $1.78 per pound. That same pork roast cut in slices to be barbecued as thin steaks is $1.98 per pound.
