Unclaimed Money/Property

Just last week I was watching morning news when a news segment talked about unclaimed money. I thought it was interesting that people would forget about $100 or more. So I went to the website FoundMoney.com to see if I had any unclaimed money.

So I put my name in the search box. It came back, “Sorry, we have no matches found for that specific name, but you may be able to claim money that is in your family name! Search in the box above for: *Your mother’s maiden family name *Names of sisters and brothers *Commonly used misspellings of your last name *Family names of grandparents and friends…”

After looking over the website, I got a very strong impression that for a small fee, they would help me reclaim some unclaimed money a long lost relative may of have left me.

Then I went to Google.com to look up unclaimed property in the state of Idaho. I found the website for the State Treasure Office some interesting information. The opening paragraph read, “Nearly $57 million in unclaimed assets in Idaho areĀ just waiting to be claimed. These include stocks, bonds, mutual funds, bank accounts, uncashed payroll checks, utility deposits, traveler’s checks, contents from deposit boxes, and more. Most of the assets are ones that peoppple didn’t know they had or just forgot about, and sometimes they are worth thousands of dollars.”

After clicking through a couple of links, I did a search to see if there was some money or property due me. Unfortunately, the result said that I was nothing due me.

Then I went to UnclaimedPropertyDatabase.org. They said I would they found my name and there was some unclaimed property in my name. When I clicked on the next link, they wanted my email address and phone number. After putting in the number and email address I give to spammers, they wanted money before they would give me the information I requested.

Bottom-line: If you really think there may be some money out there waiting for you, I would recommend that you go through the local state treasure. There are a lot organization that will help you find what unclaimed money or property. Maybe?

I can see some of these shady organization can open you up for identity theft.
