At least 1 to 2 times a day, I hear some mother or dad complain how their some son or daughter has run up their cell phone bill by $20 or $30. Their first reaction is that it is the cell phone companies fault. Their little darling could not of have download $20 work of songs.
Like everything else, I thought it could not happen to my responsible daughter. Surely she knows better.
Those words and idea were popped like a balloon, last Friday, when I reviewed the monthly cell phone bill. In the month of August she had learned how to access the mobile web from her phone. We didn’t think she could figure out how. Between texting and downloading games, her billing cycle usage was $98.
If I have not dealt with other people’s run away usage of modern day cell phones, I would not of have believed it.
The shock of the bill was over. Appropriate schedule and means of repayment was outline. Now we set down, as a family, to figure out our daughter’s cell phone usage going forward.

The best option is getting a prepaid cell phone from Wal Mart. A Samsung U325 is only $19.98 if we buy it online. A little more if purchased at the local Wal Mart. It has all the ability a young person could want in a cell phone; camera, texting, and mobile web. I was told that it comes with $10 free air time.
Now we can limit how much money she spends on texts and downloads. If she runs out of money in a week, then she has to wait until the first of the next month to get any money put on her phone. This is a great way to help a young person to learn to be financially responsible.
