		<description><![CDATA[The VW Bug or the Volkswagen Beetle has long been a symbol of German engineering. In the United States it a was one of the first gas saving commuter cars. Did you know that the Beetle got its&#8217; start back in the 1938! The revolutionary design of air cooled rear engine design was a head turner. Then you add fuel economy along enough pep to drive the fast speed of the German Autobahn made it a instant success. It was not until the 1950&#8242;s that the Volkswagen started showing up on US roads. Walt Disney added to the Beetle&#8217;s popularity with the Movie Herbie. Until recently it the little car that could faded into background. So much for the history. If you want to read more Edmund&#8217;s has a great summary on the history of the Volkswagen Beetle. Now for those of us who want good transportation, and are not into collecting  a piece of American history, let us look at the modern day Beetle.
