Back in the mid 1990′s a neighbor was in his driveway with the hood up on his Subaru Outback. I walked over to see what had got his attention. He stated his station wagon would not start. I saw how packed everything was in the engine compartment. Then I said, ‘Good Luck”, and walked over to my car and drove off. Subaru is not exactly the biggest of all the automakers in the United States. The Subaru Outback has been around since the mid-1990s. The Outback has not been the most popular vehicles, but it has always had a solid reputation. Today, Subaru Outback station wagon has the claims six advantages; Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, Subaru Active and Passive Safety, 4-wheel Independent Suspension, Transmissions, The SUBARU BOXER® Engine, Electronics and Audio System Edmunds.com is reporting the redesigned for 2010, will provide a 2.5 liter four cylinder engine producing a 170 horsepower. You can get the Outback with a 3.6-liter six-cylinder boxer engine delivering 256 hp. 2005 to 2009 model have 2.5-liter horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine delivering a good 170 hp.
This week we are going to look at the Dodge Journey. The Journey is a crossover from the classic station wagon and SUV. 2010 is the only the second production year for the Dodge Journey. I would normally wait until a car has been on the street a couple of years before writing an Auto Recon. However, because of the requests I have had about the Journey and the reputation of Dodge’s minivan fleet, I thought I would at least introduce it here. A look through the interior tells you that Chrysler’s minivans had a heavy influence on the Journey. Features like Flip ‘n Stow storage compartment under the front passenger seat, Chill Zone glove box beverage cooler, and bluetooth make the Journey a high end luxury family transportation vehicle. The base SE model comes with large 16-inch steel wheels. It is powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that is rated at 173 horsepower. You can get a 3.5-liter V6 that produces 235 horsepower. The Journey will cost you between $20,000 to $29,000. This is inline with a vehicle having the engine size and features that is on the Dodge Journey. According to FuelEconomy.com the Journey will get you 15mpg in city and 23 mpg on the open [...]
