If you are like me, you are so don’t want to see any more food. You have stuffed yourself, on Thanksgiving Day. Most of you will be reading this post after hitting all those early morning Black Friday sales. Some of you will be waiting for the Cyber Monday sales.
Yes there are some great deals out there. However, there are some published deals that are not really deals. On Thanksgiving Day, I got an email from Amazon.com. It was telling me about some great deals on selected items.
Since I am currently looking for a 15″ Acer laptop for a family member. So I did some price comparisons. Amazon.com was showing me a of price was $349. The same laptop from Wal Mart the week prior to Thanksgiving was selling for $318.
Just a few days ago, I was talking to this lady, who with some friends and family members head out to different stores on Black Friday. They text each other as to which stores have what price on which items. The individual that is at that store, where it is cheapest makes the purchase for those who are not.
For many school children Summer is ending this week. Malls were packed this weekend with the last minutes back to school. Along with going back to school it means there will be homework. The quality of homework will depend on the environment the homework is done.
Doing homework or any kind of studying on ones bed or in front of the television on the coffee table will only lead to low quality homework. I look the quality of study are will promote the same quality of homework.
If we want our students to do the best, we need to have the best possible area.
I found some great recommendation for the ideal study area at About.com. What impressed me the most it does not take a lot of money to create the ideal study area.
The student in the 21st century cannot be expected to survive on paper and pencils alone. Paper books have not gone away. However, from kindergarten to the graduate student in college at least one computer with internet access is needed as part of their learning process.
Paper bound books are not enough. The days of old hard bound Encyclopedia Britannica has been replaced by Google.com. Webster’s Dictionary, and other great school reference tools can now either be found online of in some digital format. Great reference tools of the 21st century need some electronic device to access them.
Smartphones with apps like Webster’s Dictionary, and news feeds are helpful, but not required. Tablets like Xoom and iPad2 allow doing homework a most anywhere option. Then there is the classic desktop or laptop computer with internet access as a minimum requirement for any student.
Because of the recent advancements with smartphones, and tablets PC’s have left the desktop computer like the forgotten step child. People who want to be in and hip would rather pay for a smartphone or tablet while thinking it will do the everything their old desktop computer.
This can be further from the truth. Many of these people get shocked into reality when they are told they need a desktop computer with iTunes to activate their iPhone. Many banks, or businesses require a regular desktop or laptop computer to do business with them online.
Just this week an old friend brought me his eight old laptop. It had stopped working, and he had just bought an new HP laptop. He wanted me to transfer some files from the old dead computer to his new HP.
I was proud to hear him tell me why he choose that particular laptop over the other brands that are on the market. I laugh when he tells me that he is just to cheap to spend a lot of money on something he doesn’t need.
After we got his files moved over I began to think about the evolution of laptop computers. I saw my first laptop in the early 80′s. It was the size of a medium size carry on bag.
Acer is the third largest personal computer manufacturer in the world, today. Periodically, shifting places with the other two top three computer manufactures Hewlett Packard and Dell. Acer was found in 1976 as a chain of computer stores Taipei, Taiwan. In less than 35 year Acer, the brand, is known worldwide for quality in inexpensive computers.
Buying the right laptop can a difficult chore. When technology doubles every 18 months to 2 years it is hard to keep up with all the changes. A laptop 10 years ago could only perform basic of computer function. The laptop of five years ago was much slower and more expensive than those of today. The average person in search of a new laptop can get overwhelmed with the different makes, models and features that are available.
A young lady had approached me with a sales paper from Office Depot. She proceeded to show me two different laptops. She asked me which laptop would be the best deal.
