The Honda Accord is one of those Japanese imports that has come a long way from when it was introduced in 1976. 1976 was a very memorable year. It was the year the United State celebrated its’ bicentennial. Jimmy Carter was elected president. The Romanian gymnast Nadia Comaneci attained the first-ever perfect scores in Olympic gymnastics. In the past 34+ years, we have all changed. Even the little Honda Accord. Today’s 2010 Honda Accord comes in two different basic body styles; sedan and coupe. The sedan has four different trims; LX, LX-P, EX and EX-L. While the coupe has only three; LX-S, EX and EX-L. Under the hood of the sedans you will find 2.4 liter four-cylinder engine, that produces 177 horsepower. You can upgrade to 2.4 liter engine that produces 190 horsepower. All the coupes have the 190 horsepower version. A five speed manual transmission is standard with the four-cylinder engines. You can upgrade to a five speed automatic. If a four cylinder engine is not enough, then you can get a 271 horsepower 3.5 liter V6. The V6 engine usually comes with a five-speed automatic transmission. The V6 engine in the coupes can be upgraded to a six speed manual transmission. I do like the safe features of the [...]

The Honda Civic has been around since 1973. It has always been known for its’ fuel economy. Making it the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. I remember back in the early 1980′s a close friend had a fleet for four Honda Civic’s. They were used in his business of serving court papers all around the San Francisco Bay area. The cars were not very comfortable, but they were great on gas mileage and maneuvering in and out of traffic. Today’s basic Civic comes with 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine producing 140 horsepower. It is attached to a five-speed manual transmission. For those who cannot drive a manual transmission there is a five-speed automatic available. The Si is powered by a 2.0-liter. Delivering to the wheels 197 horse-powered engine by a close-ratio six-speed manual transmission. In between the basic and high end model is the GX with under the hood a little smaller by a 113-hp 1.8-liter engine that runs on clean-burning compressed natural gas. EPA-estimated fuel economy is 40 mpg city and 45 mpg highway. However, MPGomatic.com tells quite a different story. Mostly because it breaks down the mileage rating by model and year. Scanning over the various model [...]
