Shopping for the Palm Pre

Well, Palm has not gone into bankruptcy. Three of the four major cell phone carriers offer the Palm Pre. In call seriousness the Palm cell phone is different than the Blackberry, or the many smart phones that use the Android operati...

Since then there has been several of money management programs to come on the market and many of them leave. Then in 2005, Aaron Patzer sai...

Clear Expectation of Service
Several years ago, I worked briefly at this computer store. The owner would change the terms of service at least once a week, if not more. When I left there the Terms of Service was very fine print on the back of every receipt. The receipt was printed on an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper. This is nothing unusual. Every business has literature that states where their responsibly starts and where ...
Shopping for a 32 Inch LCD
I love sitting around coffee shops, and lounge area. What I over hear is so amazing. Just the other day this guy asked a friend, "Where was the best place to get a LCD TV?" The friend answered quick, "Fred Meyer, they have the best prices." I was so tempted to lean over and ask what empirical data he was making statement. Instead I bit my tongue. Without any ceremony, I got up and walked t...

Shopping for a Mattress – Intro
Next to marriage and underwear the mattress you sleep on is the next personal thing in your life. It has been my experience that what on individual sleeps well on is another individuals restless nights sleep. So when asked to help buy as mattress, I had to start with the basics. The number of different types of mattresses far exceeds the three Goldilocks came across in the three bears cottage. ...

Auto Recon – Car Color

Posted By: TSN Boise on May 5, 2010 in Automotive - Comments: Comments Off

Are you aware that a color of a car can cost or save you money? If you are like many of  us we choose the color of our car from emotional like or dislike.

The mechanical functions of a car is logical. The car works within a set of parameter or not. Over a period of time a car will cost “X” amount of dollars to operate. Did you know the choice of the color of your car affect the amount of money that car will cost you in the long run.

A Black or dark colored car will absorb heat from the sun in the summer. This will cause the air conditioner work harder. A car painted white is harder to see in the middle of a snow storm, thus make it more likely to be involved in a collision with another car. A silver colored car seems to blend in with the road, making it invisible to other motorist.

Cost per Mile

Posted By: The Shopping Nazi on June 26, 2009 in Automotive - Comments: Comments Off

It is not the miles per gallon divided by the price of gasoline.  There are other factors when it come to

Costs

determining the cost of driving your family car per mile.

  • The cost of gas divided by the miles per gallon that is gotten by the family car.
  • The cost of car needs to be divided by miles expected to be driven over the ownership of the car.
    • Divide the cost of the cost after interest of loan for the car by the number of months of ownership.
    • Divided that number by the number of  average miles driven in month.
  • The monthly cost of insurance divided by the average number of miles driver per month.
  • Now divide the maintenance cost of the family car by average number of miles driven per month.
  • Divide the cost of car wash, parking, and any other costs by the average number of miles driven per month.

Finally, add of all the totals from the above. Then you have the cost it takes to drive your family car per mile.

Just so you will know it cost us 69 cents  per miles to drive our family car down the road. Now it only costs me $7.63 to ride my bike per month. I mean the type of bike you peddle.
