Las Vegas is a great place to go for a getaway vacation. It is also know as one of the most popular places to hold a trade show. Gas Mileage Lies
On morning news there was a sniped about a lady who sued Honda for misrepresentation of their gas mileage. It was in small claims court, but still won $10,000. Interesting! It has become pretty much accepted, by all of us, what the sticker gas mileage would be under ideal condition. I am glad someone has stepped up to say, "We are not going to take it anymore!" When I look at different makes...
Touch Screen Desktop Computers
I first saw touch screens computers in the food processing industry back in the late 90's. Since then the technology and the price has been slowly been dropping. As a result we now see more cell phones with touch screens than without. The overall adoption of a touch screen desktop computer has been slow mostly because of the cost. We are seeing the price going under the $1,000 mark. This makes ...
Social Responsible Buying
Last week the name Foxconn and Apple were in all the headlines. It was not about great profits, or some new electronic gadget. It was about the inhumane treatment of the workers in China. What is interesting to note is that Foxconn does not just manufacture electronics for Apple. Foxconn manufacture over 50% of the electronics sold in the United States. Mistreatment of works or labors misbeh...

Search for a Practical Usable Tablet
Since before Thanksgiving I have been slowing giving into the idea of getting a tablet. I have looked at all the major brands of tablets and eReaders. I have been trying to imagine how often I would use it. I watch how other people would use their tablets. While attending a local trade show I noticed a large majority of the vendors were using iPads. There were only a few who had other tablets....
Cruise or Not to Cruise
Here we are at the end of January 2012. Texas is getting heavy rains. Snow and Cold is covering most all of the northern hemisphere. I close my eyes and think of a hot summer day with the sun beating down on may face. Then in an instant, I jump into a nice cool swimming pool. Yes, what better time to plan a summer vacation than when the chilling cold is biting your bones, and the sky is all gloomy...

Summer vacation is over. The kids are back in school. Over the next few months we are going to have more and more indoor activities. Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas make up the three great days holidays remaining in this year. These holiday make a perfect time to record memories with family and friends.

Still picture are okay, but they just give you a fraction of a second of that event. A video camera can capture that fraction of a second plus what led up to the picture and afterwards.

Who knows maybe the video of this Halloween party may be the video of the day on YouTube. You want the video you take that goes viral video look the best. After all the whole world is going to see it. It may even get featured on the Today Show.

To accomplish a great looking viral video, you are going to need something more than just the camcorder feature on your cell phone. You are going to want the picture sharp and clear as you can possibly.

Flooring, Painting, Remodeling, Planning

Any Do-It-Yourself project is made or broke in the planning stage. Like an old friend once repeated over and over again, “Proper Planning Prevented Poor Performance”.

Just in planning can be expensive. Going to the library looking through dozens of magazines for the perfect bathroom design. Then going from one hardware store to the next to find the right faucet or right color of paint. Then there is how is it all going to be arranged.

Like so many people have told me, as the project was starting to come together, they started making little changes. A walk outlet over the vanity needed to be moved 12 inches to the left, because it was to close to the sink. There was no place to put the toilet paper holder. The bathroom door was swinging the wrong way. All of these do at to the cost of a remodel real quick.

Shopping for a Venza?

Posted By: The Shopping Nazi on July 20, 2011 in Food - Comments: Comments Off

In the past week every other car commercial on the television has been about the Toyota Venza. Talk about media blitz. I am starting to dream Toyota Venza. Okay Toyota, I got your message. I am going to take a hard look at the Venza, this week.

The Toyota Venza is a midsize crossover SUV based on the Toyota Camry. It was first released in the 2009 model year. The Venza was originally classified as a SUV. When I look at it, I seen a large mid size car or a station wagon. I do not see a SUV.

The Venza has four trims they are distinguished between the size of the engine and the number of wheels used to move the car along the road. The front with drive model comes in either a 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder. The all wheel model alternates between the same two engine sizes.

Shopping for a Microwave Ovens

Like anything else, I want the best price for the best possible quality. This is especially true when it comes to a household appliance that I am going to use everyday. That is our microwave oven.

We got our current counter top model about 4 years ago. It has been faithful. We have had to clean it when things explode or spill inside. All in all I must admit it has been a very faithful part of our kitchen.

The microwave oven’s history can be traced back to the early 1945. That was when Laurence Marshall was on the edge of financial ruin with his company named Raytheon. At that time Raytheon start to develop a cooking oven that used radio waves. It took until the 1970′s that Raytheon and other U.S. manufacturers started to mass produce the microwave oven as a desired household appliance. It sold for starting at $200 and up to a couple thousand dollars.

Money Management from the Mint

Way back in 1995, I remember when I helped a young pest control business get their first computer. We set up their books with a new software from Quicken. Over the years, Quicken has been the only real money management software for personal of business use.

Since then there has been several of money management programs to come on the market and many of them leave. Then in 2005, Aaron Patzer said there could be something better. So in 2008 Mint.com came out of beta.

TV Commercials – What Good Are They?

Posted By: TSN Boise on February 18, 2010 in Bargin Places, Business, Home - Comments: Comments Off

TV Commercials are one of those loud neighbors that you wish would just move away, because they serve no useful purpose.

Back in ancient history when everyone got their television through rabbit ears or rooftop antennas, the television stations got money for programs by selling advertising in the form of commercials. This I could understand. Today, when many of us pay a cable or satellite, this makes us paying two times to watch the same program.

It has often been know that the volume of the typical television commercial is louder than the current episode of NCIS. That is so you will hear some fast talking smiling individual sell you a car. Did you know that there is a bill before the US Congress to force TV commercials volume to be no louder than the TV show itself?
