When is a computer like a car? A computer is like a car because they both need to be replaced every 5 to 6 years.
The average length of time a couple will keep their family car is 66 months, or 5.5 years. The average length of time before a computer before it needs to be replaced is in the 5 to 6 year range. This means we replace out computers more often than we replace our cars.
If you are in the Computer IT industry you should be reading one of the following magazines.
Friday the 13th, full moon, and black cats are all signs of bad luck. Behind every myth or superstition there is some basis of truth. Do you believe? Well, I am the type of person that does not like to play with fire.
I will not stay locked in my home for the day. I will go out and conduct business as usual, but I am not going sky diving in the impeding rain and possible thunder storm. I don’t think anybody has ever been hit by lightening from sky diving, but I am not going to take the chance.
One of the greatest scariest thing to happen to me is my computer’s hard drive to crash. It has happen to me. I was, lack of a better term, paralyzed for over a week.
It was a quiet Friday afternoon. E, the mild mannered computer tech, was eating his lunch a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, when his cell phone rang.
E reached to his belt, unclipped his cell phone, then answered with a mouth half full of PB&J.
A high pitch voice on the other end cried, “I need your help. My computer crashed. All my documents, pictures, and music, they are all gone!”
This senero is played out hundreds of times everyday, all around the world. A computer crashes. Important data is lost. A cry of desperation rings out from the lips of the owner of that crashed computer.
Sometimes the end result brings back the lost data. More often than not the all important pictures, documents, and files of MP3′s are lost along with a dead hard drive.
The degree of devastation can be lessen, through taking a simple action called, “Backing up one’s data!!!“.
