Clear Expectation of Service
Several years ago, I worked briefly at this computer store. The owner would change the terms of service at least once a week, if not more. When I left there the Terms of Service was very fine print on the back of every receipt. The receipt was printed on an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper. This is nothing unusual. Every business has literature that states where their responsibly starts and where ...
32 Inch LCD Recon
I love sitting around coffee shops, and lounge area. What I over hear is so amazing. Just the other day this guy asked a friend, "Where was the best place to get a LCD TV?" The friend answered quick, "Fred Meyer, they have the best prices." I was so tempted to lean over and ask what empirical data he was making statement. Instead I bit my tongue. Without any ceremony, I got up and walked t...

Next to marriage and underwear the mattress you sleep on is the next personal thing in your life. It has been my experience that what on individual sleeps well on is another individuals restless nights sleep. So when asked to help buy as mattress, I had to start with the basics. The Chevy Equinox is classified in what some people want to call “plus-sized crossover, small SUV”. This basically means the Equinox is smaller than a full size SUV and larger than your standard crossover.

The much advertised feature of the Chevy Equinox is the rear seating and rear storage.  60/40-split rear seat that could be slid almost 8 inches front and rear. In the rear cargo section there is a self that increases storage options. This rear shelf can double as a picnic table.

Auto Recon – Volvo V70

Posted By: The Shopping Nazi on July 21, 2010 in Automotive - Comments: 2 Comments »

The Volvo car company is a Swedish car company that can be dated back to 1920. I remember back in the 70′s Volvo was considered it a reliable luxury car that you had to take to the local Volvo dealer if anything went wrong.

Over the years Volvo has been seen on the road. I have noticed it but not paid much attention to them. Today, I want to take a look at the Volvo V70. The V70 is in a long line of safe and practical midsize wagons from the Swedish company

Auto Recon – Acura TL

Posted By: The Shopping Nazi on July 14, 2010 in Automotive - Comments: Comments Off

I was asked to do an auto recon on the Acura TL while at a local social networking event, by one of the attendees. He was looking at buying one, but wanted to know more. I chose the TL model line because it close to mid range of all the Acura models.

The Acura brand has been around since 1986. Acura is a division of the Honda motor company, that is sold mostly in the US, Canada, and Hong Kong. Marketed to those who want luxury and performance in the car they drive.

Auto Recon – Dodge Charger

Posted By: TSN Boise on June 9, 2010 in Automotive - Comments: Comments Off

The Dodge Charger is one of those original muscle cars from the 60′s, whose children are still on the road today. Dodge Charger first hit the streets in the mid 60′s and was popularized by NASCAR along with movies. It quickly became an icon of the muscle car era.

Under the hood is the standard 178 horsepower with a 2.7 liter V6. If you want to upgrade in the SE and standard on the SXT is a little more powerful  250 horsepower 3.5 liter V6 engine. For those you want to feel the true muscle car there is the Charger R/T. I has under its hood a V8 HEMI producing 368 horsepower. If you want more then there is available Daytona R/T package adding more performance hardware and a few cosmetic extras. All Charges come with a five speed automatic transmission sending power to the rear wheels.

Auto Recon – Chevy Truck

Posted By: TSN Boise on March 10, 2010 in Automotive - Comments: Comments Off

The Chevy Truck along with the Ford, and Dodge have been around as long as  there has been trucks on roads in the United States.

Older Chevy Silverado 1500′s have had the reputation as a strong sound truck that lacked in style. The newer editions has definitely change in the area of style and comfort.  Grained upholstery, and softer materials new make is a more enjoyable ride for taking the ranchers daughter on a date. However, the half-ton Chevrolet Silverado remains a solid reputation and performance no matter what the intended use.

Auto Recon – Chevy HHR

Posted By: Craig Ballhagen on February 10, 2010 in Automotive - Comments: 5 Comments »

This week we are going to look at a relative newcomer to the compact wagon model class. The Chevrolet HHR look like the Chrysler PT Cruiser. The HHR name stands for “Heritage High Roof.” The PT Cruiser and HHR are both referred to as tall roof retro-wagons.

A four door wagon has the same front-wheel-drive mechanics as does the Chevrolet Cobalt. Giving the Chevy HHR a stable control. Add a large 17 inch or 18 inch wheels to a quality suspensions system and top it off with a premium stereo, you have a cool ride.

Auto Recon – Subaru Outback

Posted By: The Shopping Nazi on February 3, 2010 in Automotive - Comments: 1 Comment »

Back in the mid 1990′s a neighbor was in his driveway with the hood up on his Subaru Outback. I walked over to see what had got his attention. He stated his station wagon would not start. I saw how packed everything was in the engine compartment. Then I said, ‘Good Luck”, and walked over to my car and drove off.

Subaru is not exactly the biggest of all the automakers in the United States. The Subaru Outback has been around since the mid-1990s. The Outback has not been the most popular vehicles, but it has always had a solid reputation.

The Honda Civic has been around since 1973. It has always been known for its’ fuel economy. Making it the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America.

I remember back in the early 1980′s a close friend had a fleet for four Honda Civic’s. They were used in his business of serving court papers all around the San Francisco Bay area. The cars were not very comfortable, but they were great on gas mileage and maneuvering in and out of traffic.

Auto Recon – VW Bug

Posted By: The Shopping Nazi on January 6, 2010 in Automotive - Comments: Comments Off

The VW Bug or the Volkswagen Beetle has long been a symbol of German engineering. In the United States it a was one of the first gas saving commuter cars.

Did you know that the Beetle got its’ start back in the 1938! The revolutionary design of air cooled rear engine design was a head turner. Then you add fuel economy along enough pep to drive the fast speed of the German Autobahn made it a instant success.
