Resources that Help Us Learn

What I love about the age in which we live. The large volume of available tools for learning is astounding. It does not matter what our learning style is as to what we can find to help us.

Most of us do learn in one of three ways. We either read, see, or do to make taught material part of us. There are some of us who need a combination of the three.

Another great thing about the 21st Century many of these learning tools are Free to little extremely reasonably priced. That is what I want to explore today.

First off I is our transition from the heavy paper books  to their digital grand children. A large portion of  paper books have been replace in the 21st Century by digital books. These can be read from a desktop or laptop computer, eReader or tablet, and a smart phone.

There is the Gutenberg Project where you can down load over 36,000 Free classic books of literature in the form of almost any electronic media you desire. The books are in over 50 languages.

FreeTechBooks.com  and OnlineComputerBooks.com are two places you can get eBooks for the computer science major in your home. For more modern fictional reader there is GetFreeEbooks.com. Be careful a Google search on free eBooks may put you into shock.

Now actual learning software is more popular than eBooks. The type of software that is available all depends on the subject matter being studied, as well as the age of the student. Here I will point you to a couple places. Download.Cnet.com  and EducationalFreeware.com seem to be the most popular.

However, like everything else, I do recommend that you read a many reviews from varying sources before just downloading and installing on your computer. SuperKids.com and Education-Software-Directory.net is a couple of good places to start.

I am hearing over the local and national news programs how our higher education system is getting more and more expensive. This puts a greater burden upon the parents and children to an adequate education. The greatest set back is to take a test and/or course then fail it.

I do not believe there is a way to take all free online or local college course with the end result of a college degree. These free classes can be a help as an introduction or review of the material to help the struggling student.

When I looked into college level class that would be free I found some interesting ones. VirtualProffessor.com is one of those places that could give a college or college bound student the headstart they need. MIT is not the only one that offers free lectures, notes and exams to help us learn. I found a host of other colleges. You can check out the list at UniversitiesAndColleges.org.

Bottom-line: School has started or will start in the next few weeks or days. In my opinion a student or an adult who needs to learn more to keep up with job skills needs to have all the resources available to them they can possibly get. That is what I have hope to give you is a few more of the many, many resources available.

What is even greater you don’t have to spend a ton of money to get ebooks from classic literature or sit in on a virtual class from MIT.

May this school year be a happy, healthy and productive one for you.
