Measure Your Cars CPM not MPG
It was back in August of 2009 when I wrote about figuring what it would cost me to drive my Dodge Caravan one mile. Since then I have come across new information. It seems that I am not the only one who realizes that the old way of measuring a cars efficiency by miles per gallon leaves out too many variables. Since August of 2009, everyone that I have talked with have raised their eye brows...
Foreclosure Don’t Give Up

News agencies have been reporting 1 in 10 home owners are facing foreclosure. The most common foreclose is for failing to pay the mortgage. Foreclosure can all happen for failing to do something else not related to money. This can be not adhering to...

Shopping for Shoes – Intro
Before Sex in the City, it is accepted that women like fancy shoes, with high heels. Men are not any more practical. Men what boot to look and feel macho. Shopping for the Palm Pre
It has been over a year since Palm released the Palm Pre. At that time all the tech reviewers were joking that the Palm Pre was the pre-bankruptcy release for Palm. Well, Palm has not gone into bankruptcy. Three of the four major cell phone carriers offer the Palm Pre. In call seriousness the Palm cell phone is different than the Blackberry, or the many smart phones that use the Android operati...
Shopping for the Chevy Equinox
The Chevy Equinox is classified in what some people want to call "plus-sized crossover, small SUV". This basically means the Equinox is smaller than a full size SUV and larger than your standard crossover. The much advertised feature of the Chevy Equinox is the rear seating and rear storage.  60/40-split rear seat that could be slid almost 8 inches front and rear. In the rear cargo section t...
Money Management from the Mint
Way back in 1995, I remember when I helped a young pest control business get their first computer. We set up their books with a new software from Quicken. Over the years, Quicken has been the only real money management software for personal of business use. Since then there has been several of money management programs to come on the market and many of them leave. Then in 2005, Aaron Patzer sai...

Clear Expectation of Service
Several years ago, I worked briefly at this computer store. The owner would change the terms of service at least once a week, if not more. When I left there the Terms of Service was very fine print on the back of every receipt. The receipt was printed on an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper. This is nothing unusual. Every business has literature that states where their responsibly starts and where ...
Shopping for a 32 Inch LCD
I love sitting around coffee shops, and lounge area. What I over hear is so amazing. Just the other day this guy asked a friend, "Where was the best place to get a LCD TV?" The friend answered quick, "Fred Meyer, they have the best prices." I was so tempted to lean over and ask what empirical data he was making statement. Instead I bit my tongue. Without any ceremony, I got up and walked t...

Phone Recon – Motorola CLIQ

Posted By: The Shopping Nazi on January 14, 2010 in Cell Phones, Tech Stuff - Comments: 9 Comments »

Last week I was driving by my local T-Mobile store, when I remember that I was coming due for a phone upgrade in a couple of months. I turned into a open parking space in front of my local T-Mobile store.

When I walked into the T-Mobile store, I was greeted by a pleasant speaking dark haired lady in the traditional T-Mobile purple dress shirt.

I explained to her I was getting close to my time for an upgrade. I wanted to replace my old Blackberry 8700. It has been a great phone, but little things like lack of camera was starting to bug me.

I asked the sales lady about the Motorola CLIQ. I had heard some good things about it from a couple of my friends. They did not have one, but they thought it would be a good phone for me.

I started to drill the sales lady with some very important questions that had about the CLIQ. After the second question she was running for answer to another sales person. The questions were:

  1. Can I upload pictures from the phone to my computer via USB cable? (Yes)
  2. How much memory is in the phone? (You can use to 32 gigabytes. It comes with a 2 gigabyte SD card)
  3. What kind of application does it have for backing up my contacts, pictures, and calendar? (There is an application you can get from the app store.)
  4. Can I record short audio clips and save them? (Yes, you will have to get a special app from the app store.)

After my questions, I could see the sales person was starting to get a little drained. She suggested that I should go to PhoneScoop.com. She said that I could find detail reviews and a forum on the Motorola CLIQ as well as other cell phones.

Before writing this post, I did got to PhoneScoop.com. She was right! This is a great website to go to when thinking about getting a new phone. Good actuate information and is presented in an easy to read and understand format.

Bottom -line: After all my research the Motorola CLIQ is definitely the next phone I am getting. I did not mention the 5 Mega Pixel camera, the social networking apps, email support and the QWERTY keyboard all are big plus’ in my book.

I foresee only one major bad point. There has been some slowness around the MOTOBLUR interface that rides on top of the Android operating system. Of course this could just be a trade off for having all those social networking apps at my figure tips.

Update: It has been about a 90 days since I got my Motorola CLIQ. There was a little bit of learning curve. That is to be expected. I love all the nice features of the CLIQ.

I have one negative. About half of the 5 mega pixel pictures don’t get save to the SD card, because the phone restarts. It is a known issue on the forums. I talked with T-mobile tech support. They haven’t given me a resolution.

We will cover this in more detail in future posts.

You know this made me think of a quote. It’s something like: “All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

Excellent post. Are you using any seo plugins? The reason I ask is that your page title seems a bit odd.
