Financial and Family Health

This past week, I came across an article from Nielsen Wire about the relationship of health and financial responsibility. The day before that, I got to sit in on a lecture by Dr. Stephen R. Covey. The underline theme of both messages was personal financial/health before professional financial health.

It got me thinking that attitudes carry over to all parts of our life. How we manage our personal, and home finances will tell how we manage our business finances. This will be reflected in our physical appearance.

Yes, you are going to find the occasional person walking around in old torn clothing, with a million dollars in the bank, but those people are the exceptions to the rule. Most of the people I come across can be read by their overall health and dress.

The change for from an unhealthy waster to a fit financial responsible person does not happen over night. It comes on step at a time. One decision at a time.

Going out to dinner with the family is great, but what is done afterwards? Do you spend another $100 by taking the family to see a movie with popcorn and sodas or do you take a walk in the park. You would be amazed at the physical and mental benefits that derived from a family walking together on a warm Friday afternoon.

After the walk make a quick stop a the grocery store on the way home. Getting get an expensive looking chocolate moose cream pie and juice for less than $10. Then when home watch a Disney movie. This is a great way to top off an evening together with the family.

Except for the dinner, but counting driving the family the vehicle, $85 was saved as opposed to taking the Family to the movie theater.  The benefits to each family member will be seen for years to come.
