The Shopping Nazi Saving Money One Product at a Time
  • Easy Money, Takes Hard Work

    Jan 30

During the first three month of the new year I visit at least one trade show per week. In each one, I have meet over a dozen different people who were pitching their networking products. Some people refer to it as multi level marketing.

I first came across a networking marketing scheme when I was in high school. A friend of the family talked me into selling Amway products. Today, it is hard not to find at least network marketing scheme for any product category.  There are even a few out there for services, like cleaning and computer repair.

If you ever set through one of their sales presentations, it sounds so easy to make a lot of money. The products are suppose to sell themselves. If you want to make the big money, all you need to do is get other people selling those products under you.

For starters the pyramid structure?  I really can’t take issue with the tiered compensation structure. Almost every large sales organization in the world uses it. Salespeople get commission, and sales managers gets bonuses from his or her sales people. This goes all the way up the chain to the CEO.

A critical thinker (like myself) will think that it is all to good to be true. Well, it is. What is wrong with it?

The products that I have come across are not super great. They are nice, but over priced in my book.

What I have the real issue with is how easy they make it sound. All you have to do is put up anywhere from $100 to a couple of thousand to get started. They all offer you a better lifestyle and it sounds so easy. What they don’t tell you that the failure rate of all those who start is in the low to mid 90% range.

A friend has been in network marketing schemes for years. She is one of the rare ones. She makes a little above modest living. She works her butt off selling her products and getting new people to sell for her.

What I have the real issue with is; tell the prospects that networking marketing of any kind takes real hard work. Real hard work. Yes, it is a business-in-a-box. But like anything else, if want to succeed, you have to work hard at it.
