It will soon be our daughter’s 10th birthday. She wants a MP3. Eventually, she has been looking around. She knows which one she wants at what price, and from what store.
As a true protective parent I want to make sure the MP3 player that she gets will be the best one for her. The first place I went was to the internet and Cnet.com to look at their ratings of MP3 players. Cnet.com showed 287 players for under $50. Then I started to scan through the list.
It would of have taken me several days to look at all 287 MP3 players. So I filter to user rating. There was only two that were rated by users. Both of them were SanDisk. The same brand the my MP3 player is.
Our daughter mentioned that she found one she liked at Kmart. I know out of all stores that are withing driving range our local Kmart seems to carry the best selection of low cost MP3 players. So I went to Kmart’s website to check out what they had to offering.
It was on the Kmart website I saw the Element 2GB MP3 Player w/ Video. Kmart was selling it for $39.99. I remembered the name because it was one she mentioned that she liked. Since I have not heard of the brand before I did a search on Google for Element MP3 players.
The people who bought it from Sears either thought it was garbage or very good. Amazon.com showed it either 1 or 4 stars out of 5. Bizrate.com put the little Element 119 out of 120. The iPod Touch, SanDisk, and my wife’s Coby all were rated far better.
Bottom-line: Yes it is going to be my daughter’s first MP3 player. It may get broken of lost in the fist year. So we are not going to spend a lot of money on it. We are looking at the a better rated player.
I have never heard of the brand name Element before our daughter mention it. I am afraid that if we get the Element for her she will be disappointed.
We will more than likely get her a 2 gigabyte Coby or SanDisk because that is what her mother and I have. We are very happy with them.
