The Flip Ultra Camcorder has been around for a few years. In the United States, it has not really been that popular.
Flip Ultra Camcorder 2nd Generation is a unique shape for a camcorder. In fact it looks a little about a camera. The Flip Ulta Camcorder 2nd Generation maybe the best camcorder for a the average amateur videographer of 2010.
Before we get to far along there are two models of the Flip Ultra. There is the standard lightweight Flip Ultra camera that allows you to capture and share low-resolution video. Then there is the Flip Ultra HD, which shoots video in HD.
Both HD and non-HD cameras come with internal memory. The FlipShare software is compatible with both Mac and Windows machines. They both have the side flip out USB connector.
The Flip Ultra HD model adds more than just HD video. The HD model gives you 8 gigabytes of storage as opposed to the 4 gigabytes in the standard Flip. The available rechargeable battery, and larger record button makes the HD model more attractive.
The only real negative I found was there no memory card slot. This limits to 2 hours of recording video.
You can pick up the Flip Ultra for under $120. While the Flip Ultra HD comes in under $150.
Bottom-line: To take videos and upload them to YouTube. I would like to of have seen an optical zoom, but this is a carry around camera so we can capture those great moments we see on You Tube.
The Flip Ultra HD is the best deal with its’ rechargeable battery and higher resolution. I would recommend this camcorder to your teenage son or daughter to record their upcoming summer adventures.
