The Volkswagen Jetta is another one of those little cars that has been around for years. The overall shape and look has changed from its’ release in the mid 1990′s. In fact the targeted age group of owners has changed.

The fifth-generation model rolled off the assemble line 2005 to the present is a considerably larger car. Making the transforming from a compact into a midsize car.
Under the hood is a 170-horsepower 2.5-liter inline five-cylinder. It comes with a five-speed manual transmission. For those who do not like the standard transmission a six-speed automatic is available. The Wolfsburg Edition Jetta’s and the SEL wagon get a turbocharged 2.0-liter producing a 200 hp. It has a six-speed manual transmission.

It is sad to write you that the Volkswagen Jetta has had a recall for every production years. Automotive.com reports recalls for almost every production year. These recalls for the past five years include the power train, drive shaft, windshield, and brakes.
Bottom-line: The Volkswagen Jetta is a nice looking car with good gas mileage at a very low price. I think the jetta would make a nice second car for a couple that does not have any children. However, before buy one, I would definitely have my mechanic check it out for possible mechanical issues.
