Auto Recon – Ford Fusion
Back in the 70’s and 80’s there were jokes going around about Ford. People would take the letters of the word Ford and say make snide remarks like Fix Or Repair Daily, or Found On Road Dead. I haven’t heard any of those jokes for quite some time. That being said, My recon team wanted me to take note that the Ford Fusion enthusiast have their own website call FordFusion.net. It seems that people who own the Ford Fusion do like and enjoy the driving experience.
The Ford Fusion is a nice clean sedan for commuters or for family second car. The hybrid version out shines the Toyota Camry. The article on HybridCars.com makes it sound like the Ford Fusion is the car to get, when it comes to hybrids.
The Ford Fusion was introduced back in 2006. It was introduced as a very stylish front-wheel drive sedan. It has kept that reputation.
The four-cylinder engine produces 175 horsepower from 2.5 liters. The 3.0-liter V6 now cranks out 240 horses. Sportier version has a 3.5-liter V6 engine that will get you going with 263 hp. Thus making this little sedan quite perky in traffic.
A new Ford Fusion will cost you above $27,000, but you can get a stripped down model for under $20,000. A used 2006 model sells for $9,000 to $12,000. This tells me that older models are holding their value.
Green.autoblog.com praises the Ford Fusion for the new 2.5L four banger and the 6F35 6-speed automatic gives the Fusion 23 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. EPA certification on the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid finished this week with a 41 mpg city/36 highway result.
Currently, the Ford Fusion has a clean bill of health for when it comes to recalls. This is a good thing.
Bottom-line: The Ford Fusion has gone to the top of the list when it comes to second family car that is used for commuting to work. I love the idea of a hybrid car that is rated so high. The clean stylish look is also a definite plus.
