Now we know we got to get our wife...

With gas prices climbing, the cost of driving our vehicles one mile has started to increase. For those of you who commute any distant to and from work, it will be a big impact on your budget. Gas Mileage Lies
On morning news there was a sniped about a lady who sued Honda for misrepresentation of their gas mileage. It was in small claims court, but still won $10,000. Interesting! It has become pretty much accepted, by all of us, what the sticker gas mileage would be under ideal condition. I am glad someone has stepped up to say, "We are not going to take it anymore!" When I look at different makes...
Touch Screen Desktop Computers
I first saw touch screens computers in the food processing industry back in the late 90's. Since then the technology and the price has been slowly been dropping. As a result we now see more cell phones with touch screens than without. The overall adoption of a touch screen desktop computer has been slow mostly because of the cost. We are seeing the price going under the $1,000 mark. This makes ...
Social Responsible Buying
Last week the name Foxconn and Apple were in all the headlines. It was not about great profits, or some new electronic gadget. It was about the inhumane treatment of the workers in China. What is interesting to note is that Foxconn does not just manufacture electronics for Apple. Foxconn manufacture over 50% of the electronics sold in the United States. Mistreatment of works or labors misbeh...

Midday on any Saturday or Sunday, at Wal Mart, finds families and couples getting their weekly shopping done. We are at the end of January. Search for a Practical Usable Tablet
Since before Thanksgiving I have been slowing giving into the idea of getting a tablet. I have looked at all the major brands of tablets and eReaders. I have been trying to imagine how often I would use it. I watch how other people would use their tablets. While attending a local trade show I noticed a large majority of the vendors were using iPads. There were only a few who had other tablets....
Cruise or Not to Cruise
Here we are at the end of January 2012. Texas is getting heavy rains. Snow and Cold is covering most all of the northern hemisphere. I close my eyes and think of a hot summer day with the sun beating down on may face. Then in an instant, I jump into a nice cool swimming pool. Yes, what better time to plan a summer vacation than when the chilling cold is biting your bones, and the sky is all gloomy...

Auto Recon – Ford F-150

Posted By: TSN Boise on February 24, 2010 in Automotive - Comments: Comments Off

The Ford F-150 is one of those trucks that have been around for years. It is designed for hauling anything for camping gear to a to that dresser just bought at a yard sale. Heavier hauling jobs are for the beefier F-350 or as it is better known as the Super Duty.

About.com gives us a brief view of Ford truck’s almost 100 year history. In those 100 years we have seen quite an evolution. Today’s trucks are more powerful, more rugged, and a more comfortable ride.

Edmunds.com calls the F-150 a no frills workhorse. The Ford F-150 has grown into a great utility vehicle. The pickup truck can handle the needs of small businesses. The F-150 has long been used by ranchers and contractors who  can use it for work by day, and use it to take their girl friend out for dinner.

Today’s Ford F-150 comes with 4.2 liter V6 engine producing a powerful 248 horsepower. You can get 4.6 liter V8 that produces a 292 horsepower or a large 5.4 liter that will give you 310 horsepower.

Power is put to the road by a four speed automatic transmission, or six-speed automatic. You can also choose between two or four wheel drive. Then add extras like a towing packages to pull a camping trailer.

A new F-150 will set you back an easy $45,000 fully loaded. You might get a stripped down version for around $20,000. A used 2005 model will run you in the range of $8 to $17 thousand. This is where getting a used truck, in good shape is a better deal that a shiny new one.

It has been over 5 years since the last recall on any Ford F-150. Then it was for a brake fluid leak over the speed control system. Since then Ford has kept on top of making quality job one.

Bottom-line: The Ford F-150 is a solid work truck. If you want to know more about Ford trucks, especially the F-150, I would go to FordF150.net. After checking out their website, I was impressed about the amount of honest reporting and help for the current and future F-150 owner.
