The Chevy Truck along with the Ford, and Dodge have been around as long as there has been trucks on roads in the United States.
Older Chevy Silverado 1500′s have had the reputation as a strong sound truck that lacked in style. The newer editions has definitely change in the area of style and comfort. Grained upholstery, and softer materials new make is a more enjoyable ride for taking the ranchers daughter on a date. However, the half-ton Chevrolet Silverado remains a solid reputation and performance no matter what the intended use.
Edmund’s.com, also liked the modern-day Chevrolet Silverado. The half-ton Silverado pickup is also known as the 1500 series. The 2010 Silverado comes in three other variation; the 2500 HD, 3500 HD, and Hybrid. Today, we are going to just look at the 1500 model line.
The Chevrolet Silverado half-ton pickup truck is available in three body styles; regular, extended, and crew cab. You have the choice of four different engine sizes.
Most Chevy Silverados most this horsepower to the wheels with a four-speed automatic transmission. You can get a beefer six speed automatic on models with a V8 engine. As expected, one may choose either rear- or four-wheel drive.
Now for the bad news. Automotive.com list in the past 11 years, 10 different recalls. The most recent was a problem in the electrical system that the smell of smoke, and the risk of fire. Then there were some braking issues, but nothing like what we have seen with the Toyota Camry and Prius.
The 2010 model will set you back anywhere from $20,000 to $40,000, depending on how beefy you want that truck. You can pick up a 2005 model for as little $8,000. Then you are looking at a pretty beat up truck.
Bottom-line: I would get a Chevy Silverado 1500 for hauling, towing and camping. However, before I would get a used one, I would check with the local Chevy dealer. I would want to make sure any known issues had been corrected.
