The Buick car company dates back 1903 when it was first incorporated. The following year it produced 37 model B touring cars. Since the 1940′s the name Buick has been equated with the working man’s luxury car.
In the last 10 years, Buick has been going through a reinvention of sorts. It launched several new models design to re-excite its image and increase its fan base. The Buick LaCrosse is one of those models, making its debuted in 2005.

LaCrosse’s were powered by GM’s venerable 3.8 liter, delivering 200 horsepower V6, or the 3.6 liter V6 was good for 240 hp. Now the Super engine package gives you 5.3 liter small-block V8 providing 300 hp. All engines routed their power to the front wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission.
US News World and Reports ranked the 2010 Buick LaCrosse ranks 6 out of 22 Affordable Midsize Cars. This is not good. The main detractor was it’s small non-friendly truck.
FuelEconomy.gov shows the Buick LaCrosse getting 17 to 27 miles per gallon. This is still not much of an improvement from the 1904 Buick’s 15 to 21 miles per gallon.
AutoRecalls.us list air bags and steering as the major recalls for every model since its release. In 2007, there was a recall for the fuel system issue.
A new Buick LaCrosse will cost you $26,000 to $33,000. An older 2005 model year in good shape will go for just over $8,000.
Bottom-line: The Buick LaCrosse is a luxury car that I will not give a second look. If you are a Buick fan, great. I am not. From all my research, I was not given anything that got me excited.
