I love sitting around coffee shops, and lounge area. What I over hear is so amazing. Just the other day this guy asked a friend, “Where was the best place to get a LCD TV?”
The friend answered quick, “Fred Meyer, they have the best prices.”
I was so tempted to lean over and ask what empirical data he was making statement. Instead I bit my tongue. Without any ceremony, I got up and walked to my car. From there I went to Fred Meyer.
At Fred Meyer, I observed Panasonic, LG, and Magnavox as there three featured brands. Prices were ranging from $450 to over $500. Add $50+ for build in DVD or BluRay player.
From there I went over to Wal Mart. It was there I found Emerson 32″ television for as low as $318, followed by Visio $358. Sanyo and LG 32″ televisions were selling for $398. Sony was $428.
Best Buy was on my way home, so I stuck my noise in there to find the lowest price was Dynex selling for $309. The more established name brands start with LG at $379. The highest priced 32″ LCD television were just over $460.
The next question is which one is the better quality. I could spend $309 on the Dynex. Which is clearly an off brand. Reviewers at Cnet give it 2 out of 5 stars. Individuals who left comments used words like, “Garbage TV”, “Worst Product & Service Hands-Down” and “Quit working after ONLY 6 months”. The Dynex is clearly not the the LCD television to buy.
The Emerson 32″ LCD got more bad reviews than good reviews. Vizio 32 inch LCD TV was given a little better rating from Cnet.com; 3 out of 5 starts. However, the 32″ LG review from Cnet comes in better with a 4 out of 5 star rating. The LCD TV Buying Guide put LG along with Samsung and Sony on the Editor’s Choice list. Consumer Search put LG at the top of their reviews.
Bottom-line: My recommendation for a basic 32″ LCD television is LG brand. Depending on which store is the best sale Best Buy or Wal Mart is the places to get them.
I want you to note that I did not give model numbers in this recon, because big box store with have the manufacture change model numbers for model that are made specifically for their store.
